Breakfast and other meals at St. Mary's

We want you to feel at home so would like to offer you as much flexibility as we can.

With 24 hours' notice items from the menu can be substituted to take into account your special dietary requirements and most allergies can be catered for - for example houseplants in flower can be removed if you suffer from hay fever.

If you would rather bring your own food (there are supermarkets 2 - 3 miles away) you may use the facilities in the kitchen corner, which include a fridge (with small feezer compartment), microwave oven etc.

Continental breakfast

If you are willing to make your own hot drink and toast you can have breakfast at any time in the morning to suit you (up to 10.30 am).  All chilled items will be available for you in the fridge in the Garden Room and everything else will be set out for you in the kitchen corner, next to the table.

If you would like to be served your breakfast let me know the night before what time you would like this to be (between 8.00 am to 10.00 am).

If you would rather eat on the patio or in the Garden Room but next to the patio doors, let me know the night before and your table will be laid for you where you have requested it.

Other meals

With sufficient notice (and for an extra charge) I can make you a packed lunch or light meal to eat in the Garden Room.

You have access to the Garden Room at most times and can use the kitchen corner, table, crockery, cutlery and glasses to eat lunch or dinner etc. that you provide.  For example, a takeaway meal from Ottery St. Mary, Newton Poppleford or Sidmouth restaurants or supermarkets.

Hot and cold snack foods are available from Tipton Stores 8.30 am - 5.30 pm Mondays - Fridays and Saturday mornings.

The Golden Lion Bistro and Bar in the village serves lunches and evening meals every day except Sunday evenings in winter.  We would be pleased to make a table reservation for you.

We are happy to recommend other local pubs, restaurants and cafes in neighbouring towns and villages.

My Berry Granola Compote is home-made using locally produced berries mixed with local honey and Fairtrade orange juice, then Dorset Cereals granola is mixed with Yeo Valley yoghurt to produce a deliciously refreshing breakfast dish.

I try to source as much food and drink as i can either from local or from Fairtrade suppliers.

Dorset Cereals, milk and Yeo Valley yoghurts are produced in the West Country. I supply Devon cheese, Tipton St. John honey and the apple juice, some jam,  marmalade, ham, eggs, some bread and the flour I use in the biscuits in your room are all from neighbouring towns or farms.
